How to make mash
Who doesn’t love creamy smooth mmmmash! Can you put the recipe steps in order to help Professor K make mash?
Bangers and mash. Pie and mash. Haggis and mash. Mashed potatoes are one of the most popular spud-based dishes around and they go with so many things. But how do you make them?
Recipes are made up of two parts that work together: the ingredients (all the food items you need) and the method (the steps you need to follow).
The ingredients for mash are simple:
- potatoes
- milk
- butter
It’s important to follow all the steps in the right order for the recipe to work. There are also some things that you will need for each of the steps. Can you work out what they are and put the pictures in the right order too?
Items you’ll need: (not in this order)
- colander (like a big sieve)
- peeler
- masher
- cooker hob
- chopping board and knife
- pan
To do this activity print out both pages. Cut out the steps and pictures on page 1 then stick them in the correct order onto page 2.
When you’ve completed this you might like to research some of your favourite recipes and copy them out into a simple step by step guide, along with pictures.
